Postage Update: The 10 Year Delivering for America Plan

The USPS began their Delivering for America Plan this past year, largely in reaction to the delayed delivery times and other operating challenges that arose throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Their goal with this new plan is to introduce new products and services, increase sustainability, and optimize their network and operations.

The old service standards for mail service standards have been unattainable for over the past eight years. Declining mail volumes and increasing package volumes have forced the USPS to use unreliable, costly, and overly complex transportation networks that limit their ability to set realistic on-time delivery expectations.

Over the next ten years, the USPS plans to modify existing service standards and restructure their delivery networks to take advantage of more reliable and cost-efficient ground networks. These networks will need investments for improvement and updates to the delivery footprint and carrier routes to reflect this new delivery environment.

We will continue to keep our clients informed as these improvements are put in place and pass along any new information or announcements as they develop. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our mailing experts for more information.
